Phoenix has lots of wide open spaces and desert areas to explore as well as a children-friendly museum, amusement park, zoo and much more. When you're with children in Phoenix, you'll never run out of interesting things to do whether outdoors or indoors. The Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix Art Museum, Arizona Science Center, Enchanted Island at Encanto Park and Waterfall Trail at the White Tank Mountain Regional Park offer many great things to do with children in Phoenix.

Waterfall Trail is in the White Tank Mountain Regional Park and is a popular place for family hiking. The waterfall is seasonal and is located at the end of the trail in a small canyon. The Park has both mountain and desert environments and includes most of the White Tank Mountain range.

Enchanted Island at Encanto Park is a lot of fun for children in Phoenix who love amusement parks. There are bumper boat rides, kiddie cars and games of skill as well as coin-operated rides. The historic Encanto Carousel is over 50 years old. The Encanto Park Enchanted Island Express train makes its rounds in the Park and Encanto Park has lots of space for even the most active child to run around in. The Park has hiking trails, golf courses, basketball courts and softball fields.

The Arizona Science Center is a very popular place to go with children in Phoenix. The Center has both permanent and temporary science exhibits. The many hands-on exhibits for children cover different subjects such as technology and biology. Children of all ages will be interested in the exhibits at the Arizona Science Center.

The Phoenix Art Museum is another place with hands-on exhibits for children. The interactive ArtWorks gallery is made for children to explore. The gallery even has signs that read "child-friendly, please touch."

The Phoenix Zoo has 1,200 birds, animals and reptiles. The zoo is a great place to take children in Phoenix as the Children's Zoo includes a walking trail with views of animals such as a raccoon, porcupine and ocelot. The Forest of Uco exhibit has a bamboo rain forest you can walk in. There are also farming demonstrations for children as well as a petting zoo.
