Many consider tea tree oil to be the best homeopathic remedy for nail fungus. Oil from the leaves of this plant native to Australia are often used to treat insect bites, burns and fungal infections, such as vaginal yeast infections, athlete’s foot and ringworm. As a treatment for nail fungus, tea tree oil can be applied once or twice daily to the affected area as the tree’s natural antiseptic and antimicrobial properties work to eliminate infection. While tea tree oil is largely considered to be a safe remedy for nail fungus, some people may develop eczema or dermatitis after using it. Individuals prone to such reactions often choose other homeopathic remedies, instead.

Countless people have sought home remedies for nail fungus, as an alternative to over-the-counter or prescription medications that are commonly used to treat fungal infections. While medical research revealing the best homeopathic remedy for nail fungus has yet to offer a strong conclusion, anecdotal evidence by people who have actually treated toenail fungus or a fingernail fungus with home remedies frequently highlights tea tree oil as a cure. Natural, safe to use and almost completely side-effect free, many people find tea tree oil to be a comparable alternative to synthetic fungal treatments.

Other user-recommended natural remedies for nail fungus include formulas that combine the use of potent ingredients such as calendula, silica, hypericum and geranium for topical applications. Products containing these ingredients, which are considered extremely effective as a homeopathic remedy for nail fungus, can sometimes be found in health food stores or purchased from online vendors specializing in home remedies and natural cures. While these ingredients are sometimes combined into a single extra-strength product, each of these ingredients also individually addresses issues related to skin, nail and toenail problems.

Organic apple cider vinegar (ACV), a product made from fermented apples, is also commonly touted as the best homeopathic remedy for nail fungus, along with hydrogen peroxide. Some apply organic ACV directly to the area of infection a few times each day, while others choose to dilute it with hydrogen peroxide, which also has antiseptic properties and may help fight fungal nail infections. Natural cures and home remedies can often take several weeks or even several months to produce a cure, but are generally deemed to be safe and effective by those who have used them in the past to treat a variety of fungal infections.

Tea Tree Oil did not work for me. I did the suggested routine of one or two drops twice a day. I did this for three months and all I got was a bad allergic reaction that caused dermatitis. I'm looking for other suggestions.

I had battled a big toe nail fungus for quite some time, until I tried Zetaclear. It is an oral spray and a toenail application. It cured my fungus, I would highly recommend trying it. I had heard, most (toenail) fungus is coming from within your body and you need to cure the inside to get rid of the toenail fungus on the outside.

I have struggled with fungus under my toenails for a long time and have found that getting rid of nail fungus can be a real uphill battle. I think it takes a lot of persistence to completely rid yourself of the fungus. You have to wait for the infected nail to grow out totally before you are fungus free.

While I find that vinegar works well, I hate having to set so much time aside for nail fungus home remedies. I usually don't have a lot of time to sit in one place and soak my feet. While it isn't exactly homeopathic I find that putting anti-dandruff shampoo that contains selenium sulphide on your toenails works really well. Just cover your toenails with the solution and wear a sock overnight. It works really well.

@manykitties2 - I would be surprised if the tea tree oil didn't work, but you may not have kept at it long enough. It can take a couple of weeks using it twice a day for the fungus to be completely gone.

If you are willing to try you can fill a bowl with warm water and add a cup of white vinegar to it. Rest your nails in the solution for 30 minutes once a day for a week and you should see some improvement in your nails.

Another thing that I like to do that I find works very well is to use apple cider vinegar and a cotton ball to treat nail fungus. All you need to do is soak the cotton ball in the vinegar and use some bandage tape to secure the cotton ball to your finger.

Can anyone suggest some nail fungus remedies that are inexpensive and could be made with things I would probably have in the home?

I have tried some nail fungus medication from the pharmacy and using tea tree oil and they haven't done much yet. I am not sure if my nail fungus is especially stubborn or if I am using the nail fungus remedies wrong. I hate the way my nail looks as it is now discolored and getting thick, which is really unattractive. I have had to stop wearing nail polish and really need to figure out how to cure nail fungus before it gets worse.
