Optique® Eye Drops, made by Boiron®, offer those suffering from red, dry, or itchy eyes a homeopathic option for treatment. Homeopathic treatments are generally all-natural medicines mixed and diluted in a way that allows them to aid a patient in overcoming her ailment. When undiluted, some of the ingredients may cause the symptoms they are used to relieve. Boiron® has been creating homeopathic products since 1932 and has become the largest manufacturer of homeopathic medicine in the world.

This product is marketed as safe, as the ingredients in Optique® do not include any artificial preservatives or additives. Instead, Optique® includes a blend of essential oils and extracts from plants which have been shown to relieve redness, reduce swelling, and alleviate itching. These ingredients are also shown to clean the eye and help fight infection.

Optique® Eye Drops can generally be used safely by anyone who suffers from irritated eyes, whether the cause is due to illness, allergies, or airborne irritants. As the ingredients are 100% natural, they are typically even safe for those suffering from glaucoma. Those with known allergies to any ingredients in Optique® should normally avoid the product, though. It is usually recommended that an allergy test be done before putting any product in the eye for the first time. An allergy test can be performed by simply placing a few drops on the skin, leaving them there for 15 to 20 minutes and watching for any reaction.

The Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS), which falls under the regulation of the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA), has deemed the ingredients contained in Optique® fit for use in homeopathic remedies. There are no known side effects or risks involved with using Optique® with any other medications. It is, however, generally recommended that those suffering from specialized eye conditions speak with a medical professional before using the product to relieve symptoms.

Relief from eye irritants may only require washing the eye with pure filtered water, or it may warrant use of additional products. Depending on the specific condition and its severity, a doctor may need to prescribe medicated eye drops. In case a patient is in need of prescribed medication for her ailment, she should usually confer with her doctor before adding homeopathic remedies like Optique® to her regimen. So long as there is no allergy to any of its ingredients, the product is usually safe to use in anyone from children to the elderly.
