Natural breast augmentation provides an alternative to traditional breast implants for many women. Fat transfer breast augmentation and stem cell breast augmentation are the two types of natural breast augmentation procedures currently available. Fat transfer breast augmentation involves removing fat cells from other parts of the body, such as the thighs and buttocks, and injecting it into the breasts. Alternatively, adult stem cells from fatty tissue in the patient's own body can be harvested, and then injected into the breasts, where they can produce more fatty tissue to augment the breasts. Natural breast augmentation procedures have a number of advantages over traditional procedures, including fewer risks and shorter recovery time.
Traditional breast implants have been performed for decades, and, while considered safe, have a number of drawbacks. Traditional implants often don't provide the natural look and feel that many women desire. Many women's bodies reject the implants, which can cause delayed healing and even disfigurement. Traditional implants can slip out of place, detracting from the appearance of the breasts. Most women take at least two weeks to recover from traditional breast augmentation, though recovery time can extend for as long as eight weeks, depending on the body's reaction to the implants.
Natural breast augmentation, however, carries a typical recovery time of only two days. Because there are no implants involved, and the fat or stem cells come from the woman's own body, the risk of transplant rejection is almost nonexistent. Transferred fat or stem cells remain in the breasts where they are injected, even if the woman loses weight. This procedure doesn't affect the patient's ability to receive mammograms, unlike traditional breast implants.
The primary drawback of natural breast augmentation is that it offers a limited increase in breast size. Most women who receive natural augmentation experience an increase of only one cup size, though an increase of up to two cup sizes is possible. Cosmetic surgeons recommend this procedure for women who want to restore the appearance of their breasts after pregnancy, nursing, or aging. Fat transfer and stem cell breast augmentation can make breasts significantly firmer and rounder, even if it does not drastically affect their size. Women who wish to significantly increase the size of their breasts may wish to consider traditional breast augmentation, which can offer far more dramatic increases in breast size.
