What is Body Butter Cream?

A body butter cream is an intense moisturizer that can be applied onto the entire body. These creams are specially formulated to maximize skin hydration. For this reason, body butters are likely to be used during dry times during the year or when the skin suffers from severe lack of moisture. The ingredients contained in body butter often offer the skin both hydration and protection.

Many of the ingredients contained in body butter creams are natural. This is a benefit for users who wish to use a moisturizer that is free from preservatives or unnecessary additives. For example, the use of parabens, a chemical preservative suspected of encouraging certain forms of cancers, can be avoided if consumers choose a body butter that has been made with all-natural ingredients.

Natural ingredients made from shea nuts, cocoa seeds, mango seeds and Hawaiian kukui nuts can shield the skin and keep it from losing moisture. The specific benefits of these ingredients vary. For example, shea butter may help protect the skin from the sun, cocoa butter has a high concentration of antioxidants, mango seeds boast an impressive amount of beta carotene and Vitamins A and E and the Hawaiian kukui nut contains Vitamins A, C and E and fatty acids that benefit the appearance of skin. Depending on a consumer's individual needs, a suitable body butter cream can be chosen based on these ingredients' benefits.

Body butters are more hydrating than common lotions because of the special way in which they made. During formulation, the seeds and nuts are ground or cold-pressed until the oils from them are extracted. Then, the crushed seeds and nuts are heated until the remaining fat and oils present themselves. This process results in a rich emollient base used to create the cream.

Health and beauty enthusiasts may use a body butter cream during the winter more than any other time. Since body butter lotions are extremely moisturizing, a person's skin may benefit greatly from the use of body butters during cold, skin-drying months. Consumers who have food allergies to a specific ingredient may do well to pick a product without the allergy-inducing ingredient. Although the ingredient will not be ingested, the high concentration of the substance in the body butter cream can potentially cause an allergic reaction to occur.

@galen84basc: these butters can be made very easily at home. All you need are butters of your choice and an electric mixer. If you don't have an electric mixer, you can mix it on your own, but it won't be as smooth and fluffy.

Natural butters can be bought online and they are very cheap. Just make sure you are ordering from a reliable retailer as there are many fake butters being sold online. Read reviews on the retailer before ordering.

With the price of an average ready made butter, one can buy about 1 kg of fantastic butters and make different types of butters.

It is advisable to purchase shea butter, and a softer butter in order to get a soft butter which is easy to apply. You can also mix a butter with a natural oil of your choice, and add a few drops of essential oil for scent.

Boys, there is nothing better (for her) than to rub a decent body butter into her tired, aching shoulders, or back, or calves -- or feet. I use Moondance Soap's body butter.

Of course, you can always suggest she try it out on your shoulders in reciprocation.

So explain this to me ladies: what is so all-fired great about body butter?

My girlfriend swears she can't live without her vanilla body butter, but for me, I can't see what the fuss is about.

It's thick lotion.

What's the big deal?

Is there a way to make body butter at home? I really love using coconut body butter, but I use so much of it that I would like to see if I can make my own, or at least get it wholesale.

Can anybody enlighten me, are there places that sell wholesale body butter, or is there a way I can make this at home?

Thanks!

I am totally addicted to my shea body butter. It's one of those things that you don't realize how much you love before you start using it, and then feel like you can't do without it.

I've tried other so called "shea butter" body creams, and none seem to work as well. For me, I've got to get a full on shea butter or body butter.
