A mobile amplifier is a type of audio amplifier that can be used to strengthen audio signals received and sent by a mobile or cellular telephone. These types of amplifiers are ideal for use when the mobile user is on the go, but can also be used at home to help strengthen weak signals and reduce the chances of dropped calls. As a bonus, the mobile amplifier also helps to increase the volume of the voice transmissions, making it easier to enjoy using a mobile for extended conversations.

One of the more common designs for a mobile amplifier involves a device appropriate for use in a motor vehicle. With this application, the device will normally include an adapter that can be plugged directly into the power port on newer cars, or into the cigarette lighter on older models. The amplifier can then be connected to the mobile phone and the radio reset to a certain position on the local radio band. This allows the mobile user to carry on a conversation with relative ease, since the voice transmission is carried through the speaker in the car’s sound system. When a mount is placed on the dashboard for the mobile phone, the driver is not encumbered by holding the phone while driving, and also does not have to deal with the discomfort of wearing an audio head set.

Several benefits are associated with the use of a mobile amplifier. Since the device can be easily connected and disconnected at will, it is the ideal solution for taking along on a business trip and using while driving a rental car. Adapters that allow the device to operate with the use of house current can also mean that it is possible to utilize the devices to boost the volume and strengthen the connection at home or in the office if necessary. Some models also come with battery back-up power, making it possible to use the amplifiers when at the park, on the beach, or other areas where hands-free use of a mobile phone may be helpful.

There are a number of mobile amplifier kits on the market today. Some are designed for use with specific makes and models of mobile phones, while others may be used with a number of different brands and models. In addition, the range of features included in the amplifiers created with these kits may vary somewhat. While most will provide strengthening of the audio signal and the volume, others may include ancillary features that include voice activation of the mobile unit, and even the ability to adjust the gain on the volume with a verbal command.
