Sweat suits, also known as sweat outfits, come in all different types and styles. They range from the most casual, made specifically for exercise, all the way to those made exclusively for fashion wear. Made for men, women, and children, sweat outfits are created with the comfort of those wearing them in mind.

Some sweat outfits are made specifically for outside wear. Their material is designed to withstand the elements. Some of these types of outfits are made of water-resistant material, while others are made of heavier material meant to keep the person wearing them warm.

The pant and leg design of sweat outfits differs greatly from outfit to outfit. Some pants simply cinch at the waist, with a drawstring used to keep them fitting tightly. Others have an elasticized waist, while still other designs feature both the drawstring and the elasticized waist. The pant legs come in two basic styles. One style has a tight bottom with elastic. These types of bottoms will often feature a zipper so that they can be loosened or left tight, depending on what is most comfortable for the person wearing them. The tight-bottomed pant leg design most often appears in those outfits meant for athletic wear.

Designed and meant to be worn as fashion wear, a sweat outfit that has become increasingly popular in the early 21st century is made of many fabrics, including but not limited to silk and velvet. These outfits feature pant-like bottoms, and often they will even include a pocket on the back much like a traditional pair of pants would. The top, which can be have a zipper front or be a pullover, often will have a hood. The hardware on these dressier sweat outfits is often created and placed to further embellish the outfit.

Sweat outfits also come in an assortment of colors. They are not merely monochromatic. Contrasting colors or a top of one color paired with a bottom of a different color is also popular. Sweat outfits are so varied in their designs that there is no singular common element except for the comfort level. Sweat outfits, regardless of the purpose of their design, all have one thing in common. They are meant to lend a high level of comfort to the person wearing them.
