Body butter is a kind of emollient. It can be used to both prevent and treat dry skin. Lavender body butter is simply a version of the emollient that has been scented with an essential oil made from lavender flowers. One of the benefits of lavender body butter is the soothing quality of the scent. In aromatherapy lavender is often used to reduce tension and create a sense of peace. Therefore, lavender body butter is good to use when you are trying to calm your nerves. It is also good to use before going to bed for the night.

There are a number of companies that sell different types of lavender body butter. Many of these body butters have product information and customer reviews online. It is very helpful to review this information when you are browsing lavender body butter and trying to choose the best one for your needs.

Every body butter has a slightly different scent. The kind of lavender oil that the skin care company blends into the body butter, the other ingredients in the emollient, and any other oils that are used for fragrance will all affect the scent. Therefore, when you are browsing different types of lavender body butter, be sure to check the tester to make sure that you like the smell. Also, different skin care companies use different amounts of lavender oil. This means that some products are highly scented while others just have a light hint of lavender.

If you are not pleased with the different types of lavender body butter that you find in your local stores, or if you are just the type of person who likes to make your own beauty products, you can easily make lavender body butter at home. It's quite simple. All you have to do is purchase a bottle of lavender oil. If possible, smell the oil first to make sure that you like its scent, but remember that it will be much less strong once it is diluted in the body butter.

Once you have the oil, simply add a few drops to your favorite unscented body lotion. Begin with a small amount of lotion in your palm and add just a drop or two of lavender oil. Experiment to find out the ratio of oil to lotion that best pleases you. You may just find that, out of all of the different types of lavender body butter, your own recipe is the best.

@whitesand - Most of us women know exactly what you're talking about with the rough flaky feet, especially during the Summer months when we bare them in our strappy sandals.

Body butter is much thicker than lotion and usually consists of three main ingredients. Shea butter, vegetable oil and coconut oil.

Body butter also leaves a thin coat over the skin as an added protection against the elements. I like to add a few drops of the lavender oil to my Shea body butter then rub it on my feet, knees and elbows right before I go to bed.

Lavender not only adds the extra moisture that my skin needs but it also calms my nerves and helps me get a good nights sleep.

The heels of my feet are very dry and scaly and I've heard that lavender oil is an excellent treatment for this condition.

There are so many products with lavender oil in them that I don't know which one is the right choice for me.

For instance, what is body butter and what makes it different from body lotion? Is body butter better at treating rough dry skin?
