What are the Different Methods of Anti Wrinkle Skin Care?

Anti wrinkle skin care products and services are part of an anti aging industry that rakes in billions of dollars each year in the United States alone. Wrinkle prevention and treatment is most commonly sold in the form of topical creams and serums or cosmetic procedures and surgeries. Although each of these skin care methods are widely available, they vary in terms of cost and effectiveness, with the most expensive surgical procedures usually delivering the most noticeable results.

The most popular preventative method of anti wrinkle skin care is UVA-UVB sun screen or sunblock, which temporarily protects the skin from ultraviolet rays. In addition to posing health risks, overexposure to UVA-UVB rays can deepen wrinkles and give the skin an overall uneven appearance. Other products that offer UVA-UVB protection, such as certain types of sunglasses, makeup, and lip balm are also included amongst the products used to prevent wrinkles. Smoking cessation is another recommended form of anti wrinkle skin care prevention, as the repetitive puckering gesture made when smoking can form lines around the mouth, and toxins from cigarette smoke are also said to cause damage to the skin.

When it comes to treating wrinkles that have already formed on the skin, most cosmetic lines carry products deemed for “mature skin” which generally target women around 30 years of age and above. One of the staple products of anti wrinkle skin care lines is a thick, oil-based cream sometimes known as “night cream” or “cold cream.” These creams may also include ingredients such as vitamin E, vitamin C, or white tea. Despite what some manufacturers have tried to claim over the years, these creams cannot reverse the aging process or make wrinkles disappear. However, they can soften and smooth out the skin in a way that minimizes the appearances of wrinkles.

One of the most popular cosmetic procedures for wrinkle treatment is the injection of cosmetic fillers such as Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Botox®. These fillers plump up the skin, giving it a smooth, shiny surface which lasts for about six months. Microdermabrasion is another anti wrinkle skin care procedure that minimizes the appearance of wrinkles and other unevenness by exfoliating the surface of the skin. Filler injections and microdermabrasion are considered less drastic than some of the surgical procedures available for anti wrinkle skin care treatment, such as facelifts. A facelift reduces the appearance of wrinkles by stretching the skin taut and removing excess fat or loose skin.
