@stormyknight: Stress can be very bad for you in many ways. It actually alters the neurochemical makeup of our bodies. It can even affect the maturation and release of a human egg. Stress can cause the fallopian tubes and uterus to spasm. In men, it can affect sperm count and can even lead to erectile dysfunction. It is said that stress may account for at least 30% of all infertility problems.

I used to think that stress caused your hair to turn gray. That is not true. However, stress can cause hair loss. The hair loss can begin up to three months after you have had a stressful event.

I recently read an article that listed some of the most stressful jobs. It was said that being a surgeon, commercial airline pilot, photojournalist, advertising account executive, or real estate agent were the most stressful jobs. The least stressful were considered to be dietitians, astronomers, systems analyst, and software engineer. I’m not sure I really agree with these lists. I was a paramedic for many years and I can guarantee you I was stressed almost every shift.

Stress management is very important. We are all going to experience stress at some point during our lives. However, if you are experiencing high amounts of stress and on a regular basis, you need some intervention.

Stress has often been called “the silent killer” and can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure (which could lead to a stroke), chest pain, and an irregular heartbeat.

I took a stress therapy class last year and it was so beneficial to me. We did yoga and meditation, which I still do on a daily basis. It is a great stress reliever.

There are many stress relief products but always discuss it with your doctor before taking any medications.
