What are the Best Easter Craft Ideas?

The best Easter craft ideas are fun, easy-to-make projects with an Easter egg theme. These range from Easter baskets and cards to decorations for the home. Easter crafts can be made by adults or children depending on the skill level involved. Plain egg shells can be transformed into creative Easter craft ideas with inexpensive, easy-to-find craft items in pretty spring colors.

Coloring Easter eggs is a favorite holiday tradition. Rather than coloring hard-boiled eggs, raw eggs can be pierced with a needle on both ends and have the contents blown out so the hollow egg shell is ready for painting and decorating. The contents of the eggs can be saved in the refrigerator to be mixed with milk and seasonings to make a batch of scrambled eggs. When the hollowed out eggs are painted with water color paints and allowed to dry, ribbon, sequins, feathers and the like may be placed carefully onto the eggs with craft glue. The decorated eggs may then be used for a variety of Easter craft ideas.

For instance, a beautiful wreath to hang on the front door can be created with the decorated egg shells and silk Easter flowers such as daffodils, lilies and tulips. The items may be glued onto a wreath frame purchased at a craft store and accented with a large, elegant ribbon bow. The hollowed out, colored and decorated eggs may also be used to fill painted and decorated Easter baskets. The baskets can decorate a hall table or other area of the home for Easter.

Hollowed out, blown out Easter eggs are fragile to paint and decorate, yet if they break, it's no problem, as the broken pieces of colored and decorated egg shells are wonderful for children's Easter craft ideas. Children can glue the colorful egg shell portions onto pieces of poster board to create mosaic designs. The poster board could be cut into an egg shape and a hole could be made in the top for ribbon to be inserted and tied. The artwork can be hung on doorknobs as Easter decorations or be used for Easter brunch place setting cards, with guests' names written onto the decorated poster board pieces. Another option for great children’s Easter craft ideas is to have children glue the decorated egg shell pieces onto folded pieces of poster board to create mosaic greeting cards.

I'd love to take a class in Pyansky, the Ukrainian craft of making the fancy, wax decorated Easter eggs. I've never seen one offered around here, but I would take one if it were offered. I'd love to have a couple of those beautiful eggs for gifts or something. I like to give handcrafted things, and I think these would be perfect for giving to loved ones. But you have to know how to do it. I've seen websites, but I think I'd really want someone to show me how to do it the right way.

These eggs are stunning and it would be a neat thing to be able to do them myself.
