Fargo has many great things to do – both indoors and outdoors. Located in the Red River Valley, Fargo is the "Gateway to the West" and is North Dakota's biggest city. The Children's Museum at Yunker Farm, the Red River Zoo, the Maple River Winery, Trollwood Park and the Plains Art Musuem offer both visitors and residents fun things to do in Fargo.

The Plains Art Museum is located in a 1904 warehouse that was once the International Harvest Building. The Museum has collections of contemporary and folk art as well as traditional Native American art. The Plains Art Museum offers one of the best culturally-focused things to do in Fargo. You'll find pieces by Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol as well as the political paintings of Native American artist, David P. Bradley.

Watching community theater in Trollwood Park is another one of the best things for art and culture enthusiasts to do in Fargo. Trollwood Park is the summer home of the Trollwood Performing Arts Studio. The Park has a large performance theater and past productions have included musicals and Disney works. Trollwood Park is also a great place for biking and walking and is known for its restful green space.

Maple River Winery produces its wines from fruits found in North Dakota. Sampling the wines here is one of the most interesting things to do in Fargo for wine enthusiasts who appreciate something different. You'll find varieties such as Apple Jalepeño, Rhubarb and Apple Cinnamon.

Fargo's Red River Zoo opened in 1998 and kept adding more habitats and animals. The Zoo is managed by the Red River Zoological Society and the animals are kept in as natural of surroundings as possible. Some endangered species are being cared for here and these include the Bactrian Camel and the Red Panda. The Red River Zoo has more than 300 animals of 75 species as well as a refurbished 1928 carousel and is home to many family activities and events.

Visiting the Children's Museum at Yunker Farm is one of the best things to do in Fargo if you have kids. The Museum offers many types of fun learning experiences for children such as "Imagine That" with costumes, make up and puppets as well as "Where in the World" that has puzzles of the world including the United States. There are over 50 interactive exhibits and a reading section called "Patty's Book Nook" that features international children's stories.

One of the great things about Fargo is that the Fargo accommodations are really affordable, so you can get a decent place for your stay without having to break the bank. We ended up staying in one of the motels Fargo offered, and were happy with everything.

I think besides lodging in Fargo, Fargo restaurants are also a really good deal. There is a surprising amount of variety in the city. The Old Broadway in Fargo is quite famous and has a great grill. If your looking for tasty steak, big burgers or even some healthier eats, you should give it a shot.

We stopped in Fargo, North Dakota on a road trip a while back and there is actually a good site for Fargo tourism if you are looking for Fargo events.

When we visited the Fargo Civic Center was hosting the Annual Fargo Christmas Show which is a great place to pick up crafts and delicious baked goods from all over the U.S.

I think that what we loved most about the Christmas show was that there were so many handmade items to choose from. I really feel that you don't get to see that kind of quality much these days, and it is nice to buy something that is supporting the local economy.
