What are Healing Sounds?

Healing sounds are sounds employed to support optimum health in the human body. Often referred to as sound therapy, healing sound utilizes vibration and frequency to work with the body's energy flow and restore health and wellness. There are several techniques utilized in the application of healing sounds; these include Tibetan bowl treatments; tuning fork treatments; and cymatherapy, a type of treatment that employs advanced technology to broadcast healing frequencies.

Greek philosopher Pythagoras was among the first documented individuals to use healing sounds as a way to treat ailments of the body and mind. Pythagoras took notice of the remarkable effects music seemed to have on various physical and emotional conditions. Over the ensuing centuries, the medical community got on board with Pythagoras's findings and developed more progressive ways of applying and researching this unique phenomenon.

The application of healing sounds is based on the idea that the human body is filled with energy. Certain parts of the body hold more energy than others, and diseased or afflicted areas may have an abundance of or a lack of energies. The frequencies and vibrations emitted from a sound healing device work with these elemental energies to re-balance them and encourage their healthy flow. This process of re-balancing helps to eradicate the underlying conditions that give rise to the medical issues.

Sound healers work with a variety of instruments and forms of technology to bring about healing through sound frequency and vibration. One of the most common tools is a Tibetan bowl, which is often used in meditation to help practitioners stay in the present moment by listening to the gentle sound of the mallet against the rim of the bowl. Tibetan bowls produce particularly healing frequencies that can also be used as chakra healing sounds, providing balance and restoration to the body's main energy vortexes.

Tuning forks work much in the same way as Tibetan bowls. When struck, they create a gentle sound and a powerful frequency. Holding a vibrating tuning fork over the afflicted energies of the body helps to release any pent-up flow and more evenly distribute an excess of energies.

Cymatherapy utilizes technology to send healing frequency directly into the tissues and organs. A special massage device if often employed. The massager targets the region in question and delivers a steady stream of positive, healing frequency that replenishes and encourages energy flow. The process is entirely noninvasive and pain-free.
