How Do I Choose the Best Cheap Lotions?

When it comes to body lotions, some believe only the most expensive lotions can be truly beneficial to the skin, while others believe all lotion is the same and one isn’t any better for the skin than another. All lotions are not the same, but cheap lotions can be just as effective as more expensive brands. When shopping for cheap lotions, look for brands that are made for your specific skin type, be it oily, dry, or sensitive. Different body lotions contain different ingredients, each of which has specific benefits to the skin. Before buying a body lotion, decide what benefits you most desire, determine which ingredients provide those benefits, and buy a body lotion that contains those ingredients.

Some ingredients found in cheap lotions are more beneficial to certain skin types than others. Someone with dry skin should consider buying body lotion that contains jojoba oil, an ingredient that provides extra moisture without being heavy or sticky. Someone with oily skin should choose light lotions that won’t clog pores. If you wish to stop or reverse the visible signs of aging, consider lotions that contain antioxidants like vitamin E and honey. Honey is also a good lotion ingredient for managing body acne, as the honey won’t cause irritation, and has healing properties.

If you buy cheap lotions, you should get into the habit of reading labels, as certain keywords will help you determine the skin-care benefits each body lotion might provide. Lotions labeled “all natural” won’t contain harsh chemicals that can irritate sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin or suffer from allergies, you should also consider buying unscented lotions. Acne sufferers will usually find that lotions marked “non-comedogenic” won’t clog pores or cause future breakouts. Buyers of all skin types should look for lotions that provide protection from the sun’s harmful rays.

Many cheap lotions on the market simply aren’t effective, and don’t provide many skin-care benefits. One way for a consumer to find a good cheap body lotion is to ask for recommendations from friends and acquaintances, and to read consumer reviews. When buying a new body lotion, start with a small bottle, and test the lotion out on a small patch of skin first to see if it causes irritation or breakouts. Next, use the lotion as recommended for a week or so to determine whether it provides the promised skin-care benefits. If it doesn’t, consider switching to another brand.

@accordion- I'll do you one better; I always use simple almond oil, not even a lotion. Awhile ago I read that a hand model used it instead of any sort of lotion or moisturizer; just regular almond oil, the kind you can buy at a drugstore for almost nothing. I think that models probably moisturize a dozen or so times a day, but I just use it once or twice. It works, though, every time.

My mother has always stuck to Jergens hand lotion, original scent. It smells great, works, and is really inexpensive. I like something else when I have really dry skin, but that has also become my own go-to for everyday dry skin.
