You can become an become an automotive recruiter without ever having sold a car. Many companies offer a training course on the methods and ways to become an automotive recruiter. Several of these companies offer online training packages as well as weekend seminars to assist you in becoming an automotive sales recruiter. After you have completed the training program, you need only to find an automobile dealership in your area that desires the assistance of a recruiter, and you can often make a deal to work with the dealership. Many of the programs that train you to become an automotive recruiter also assist you in finding dealerships that require your assistance.

Occasionally, an automotive dealership will experience a period of low or slow sales. When this happens, many times the sales team will leave and find other dealerships for which to work. The dealership is then forced to find a new sales team, but the dealership often lacks the manpower to hire and train the new employees. If you become an automotive recruiter, you might be designated to do the hiring and training of the new sales team for the dealership. You will be responsible for advertising, setting up and operating the recruitment fair.

In many cases, after you become an automotive recruiter, you will be paid by the recruits to train them. In some cases, you will keep that money, and a portion of it will go to cover advertising expenses for the recruiting event as well as to pay the dealership for using its facility. The dealership commonly offers to pay a percentage of the fees back to any recruit who is hired and who completes one year of employment with the dealership.

Your biggest obstacle, after you decide to become an automotive recruiter, is to find the dealerships that will allow you to hold recruiting events at their location. With assistance from the trainers, you might be able to arrange several events close to your home in a single year. If enough hopeful sales recruits show up for your event, you could stand to make a very good income. Although it is not a requirement, you might have additional success and connections as a recruiter if you have had some automobile sales experience before becoming a recruiter.
